Kimiko Williams

President

Kimiko Williams is a native of Nottoway, Virginia. She is a 1997 graduate of Virginia State University (Home of the Trojans) and a 2013 graduate of Grand Canyon University where she earned her Master's in Early Childhood Education. Kimiko serves as the Director of Child Care Resource & Referral of FGV Smart Start. Kimiko enjoys traveling to the beach year-round, spending time with family and friends, going to the movies and cooking. Kimiko is married to Maurice Williams and has one son. She resides in Warren County, North Carolina.

Dr. Jerry Edmonds

Member

Jerry E. Edmonds III is currently the Vice President of Workforce and Community Engagement at Vance Granville Community College, Henderson, North Carolina, a post he has held since October, 2019.

 

Dr. Edmonds earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing, from Marshall University in 1985 and his Masters of Science with an emphasis on Human Service Management from Springfield College in 2001. Dr. Edmonds earned his doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin in May, 2020.

 

Dr. Edmonds' passion for rural economic develop is reflected in his doctoral research which examined the perceptions of North Carolina Economic Development Leaders’ Perception of The NCCCS As It Relates to Rural Economic Development.

 

Dr. Edmonds is currently a member of the Henderson, North Carolina Chapter of Rotary International and a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He also serves on the Mariah Parham Duke LifePoint, Board of Trustees. In addition, Dr. Edmonds serves on the Lakeland Cultural Arts Center, Working Landscapes, Kerr Tar Council of Governments, NC IDEA, Community Partners of Hope and Turning Point, CDC Board of Directors. Dr. Edmonds is a collaborative leader with vision, innovation and integrity.

Dr. Braxton M. Henderson

Secretary

Dr. Braxton M. Henderson is a native of Memphis, TN. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh with a major in Biological Sciences. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and completed extensive training in a 3-year postdoctoral anesthesia residency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Henderson founded Southern Office-Based Anesthesia to increase access to high quality and comfortable dental care for all patients. Dr. Henderson serves on the Pastoral Team at Oasis of Hope Ministries.  He enjoys running, playing basketball, traveling, and barbecuing.

Dr. Wykia Macon

Member

Wykia Macon is a Henderson native who is passionate about youth development in her hometown.  She currently works as the 4-H agent in Vance County, designing and implementing a variety of programs primarily focusing on STEM, leadership development, and healthy living. Wykia has her Ph.D. in International and Multicultural Education. She also consults on education projects in low-and-middle income countries during her free time.

Carlton J. Terry, III

Member

Carlton J. Terry III is a native of Warren County. He teaches history at Henderson Collegiate High School and is a Minister at Universal Mission Apostolic Church in Warrenton, NC. He has a passion for the development of people through education. He is deeply committed to the economic and educational empowerment of communities in Warren, Vance, Granville, and Franklin counties.

Camille Johnson

Member

Camille Johnson is a native of New York and currently resides in Vance County. She is currently the branch manager of Woodforest National Bank in Henderson, NC. Camille considers herself to be a passionate community servant. she has the ability to motivate and inspire. She takes pride in engaging in community outreach.  Camille is pleased to work with Turning Point CDC knowing that she is involved with an organization that benefits the community in which she works and lives.

Dr. Chandra Sledge Mathias

Member

Passionate about educational innovation, equity, and development, Chandra utilizes her strengths as a relationship builder and arranger to help principals and instructional leaders improve efforts in their unique school contexts.

As a thought partner to school leaders in Chicago and other midwestern cities, she focuses on meaningful and purposeful professional experiences for educators that will build their capacity for more powerful interactions with students.

Chandra served as an English teacher, assistant principal, principal, Network Manager, and Director of Curriculum in several states including MD, NC, IL, DE, and TN. She is currently leading the school design process as Founder/CEO of a new charter school anticipated to open in North Carolina. 

Chandra holds a B.A. in English Secondary Education from North Carolina Central University, an MSA from North Carolina State University, and an Ed.D in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University Chicago. She considers herself a global citizen but North Carolina will always be her #1 home.
